Wedding Invitation Uses
Wedding invitations do more than announce a date. They give guests the practical information they need while introducing the look and feel of your celebration.
Include the couple’s names, wedding date, ceremony time, venue, dress code, and response instructions. You can also add a wedding website or QR code for directions, accommodations, registry details, and schedule updates. For events held across several locations or days, a separate details card can keep the main invitation clean and easy to read.
Invitations can be created for the wedding itself as well as related celebrations, including engagement parties, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, and post-wedding brunches. Coordinate them with RSVP cards, information inserts, menus, place cards, and thank-you notes for a consistent stationery suite.
If your celebration includes printed décor, matching event displays can carry the invitation design into the venue. A custom step and repeat backdrop can also create a coordinated photo area for guests. For multi-day or destination weddings, printed brochures can hold weekend schedules, directions, and local recommendations, while flyers work well for casual welcome parties or post-wedding brunches.
Materials and Sizes
Paper plays a large part in how an invitation looks and feels. A smooth uncoated stock offers a classic, understated finish, while coated paper makes photographs and bold colors appear more vivid. Thicker cardstock gives the invitation extra weight and a more substantial feel.
Available options include:
- 14PT Cardstock: A sturdy, versatile choice for most invitation styles.
- 16PT Cardstock: A thicker option with a substantial feel, well suited to modern and formal designs.
- Smooth Uncoated Cover: A natural, elegant surface that works especially well with simple typography and soft colors.
- Gloss Cover: A good choice for photo invitations, saturated color, and detailed artwork.
- Premium Finishes: Matte, satin, gloss, and soft-touch lamination can add protection and change the texture of the finished invitation.
Popular wedding invitation sizes include 5” x 7”, 4.25” x 5.5”, and 5.5” x 8.5”. A 5” x 7” card is a familiar choice for traditional invitation suites, while smaller formats work well for simple or informal celebrations. Custom sizes are available when you need to fit a particular envelope or create a less conventional layout.
